Among the 200 posts I've contributed, these stand out as my favorites.
For decades, we've used a single icon to illustrate people with physical disabilities. How about evolving the icon to highlight people’s abilities instead?
I was delighted to discover this meaningful initiative while visiting Decathlon Canada last week. Some of our stores around the world have already joined this movement and are getting ready for the next Olympics and Paralympic Games in Paris 2024. Perception is reality.
The disaster in Turkey and Syria impacts us all. We were struck by the violence of this catastrophe and the sadness of all these lives turned upside-down. In Decathlon , our first reaction was to make sure our teammates and their families were safe and doing ok.
Then, our teammates in Turkey gathered material to keep people warm. It is already present in the most affected areas. Material like warm clothes and winter equipment worth 1 million Euros. Additionally, Decathlon releases an exceptional fund of 1 million Euros to help more.
In the coming hours and days, we will keep on mobilizing with NGOs, other companies, our products, and teammates around the world. In the midst of this crisis, let's stand together and unite in a sign of international friendship and solidarity.
Today marks an incredibly important new chapter for Decathlon … as we share our new purpose, strategy and brand identity with the world.
Guided by our purpose, to Move People Through the Wonders of Sport, we aim to build a happier, healthier world.
Our new strategy is anchored to 3 key areas: improving customer experience, turbocharging sustainability, and modernising every aspect of our business.
Core to improving our customer experience was the introduction of a fresh brand identity, which we have launched today! It is energetic, motivational and aspirational… and includes a new logo that is deep-rooted in our history - we call it ‘the Orbit’.
I’m so excited to be sharing this with you all - it is the beginning of a new era for Decathlon!
Wow, I am still buzzing from yesterday’s launch event - what an incredible moment!
We revealed our purpose, strategy and new brand to the world, and I’m so excited about the future.
As part of the event, we saw some amazing products, the new jersey for the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale cycling team AND we heard from some super inspiring athletes.
We heard from Teddy Riner, Méline Rollin and Romain Cannone from the Decathlon Olympic Team of athletes, as well as Sam Bennett of the DECATHLON AG2R LA MONDIALE TEAM.
There was so much energy in the room, and we were joined by thousands of teammates from across 70 different countries!
We’ve kicked off this new era as one big collective and I cannot wait to see where it leads us.
Thank you to everyone who made this event possible… Now, it’s time to Move People Through the Wonders of Sport!
For centuries, the Olympic Torch has symbolised light, hope and the unbreakable spirit of humanity.
It is a bridge between generations - a flame that carries optimism and the timeless spirit of sport.
Yesterday, I had the incredible honour of being one among 8 teammates to carry the Torch on its journey around France. This moving moment was dedicated to our 100,000 Decathlonians around the world.
Sport has been a big part of my life since I was very young. My father would encourage my sister and I to try as many different sports as possible, and it was a school for life.
So, while I was carrying the Torch, I felt the same pride and passion that I feel as I pass my love of sports onto my own children, just as my father did for us.
I’m so grateful to have had the chance to be part of such an important tradition. It’s a moment that will stay with me forever!
Now, all roads lead to Paris. I can’t wait for the Games to begin on the 26th of July, and to see the Decathlon Team of Athletes competing on the greatest sporting stage in the world!
Today, I am really excited to announce the launch of DECATHLON PULSE.
As an independent subsidiary of the Decathlon Group, Decathlon Pulse will have three core missions:
‣ To build and scale innovative businesses;
‣ To invest in companies that are capable of transforming the sports ecosystem
‣ To acquire strong, game-changing sports brands and distributors that share our values.
The global sports and wellness market is vast and filled with untapped potential.
Our desire is to find the smartest and most inspiring ways to encourage people in every corner of the globe to fall in love with sports. Decathlon Pulse will accelerate our goal of building happier and healthier societies.
DECATHLON PULSE and the Decathlon Group will be complementary, driven by our shared purpose of Moving People Through the Wonders of Sport.
Together, we want to expand the sports landscape through four key themes: expert sports brands; e-commerce pioneers; the circular economy and; next gen sport solutions.
I was delighted to appoint Franck Vigo as the CEO of Decathlon Pulse. Franck’s track record with Decathlon Alliances made him the clear choice. I will be serving as Chairwoman of Decathlon Pulse.
Here’s to the journey ahead! I look forward to seeing what the Decathlon Pulse team is able to achieve with this exciting new remit.
So here we are… the end of the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
45 000 volunteers who made the event possible
660,000 minutes of competition
10,500 athletes
206 nations
32 sports
329 gold medals
and more than 3 billion spectators around the world.
Nothing else has such an immense power to bring the world together, all through one deeply unifying factor:
𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁.
It has been an incredibly inspiring, moving and emotional journey…
Thousands of smiles shared by passionate volunteers, who I'm so proud to have crossed paths with during the Games: you are a true expression of our values.
Simone Biles demonstrating incredible determination and resilience to come back and win gold once again…
Teddy Riner, the Decathlon Team of Athletes’ Captain, making history in becoming the most decorated Olympic judoka ever…
And Mijaín Núñez’s record-breaking consistency in wrestling, winning the gold medal for the fifth Olympics in a row!
We thought now would be a great moment to look back at some of our best volunteer memories from the past two weeks, before setting our sights on the Paralympic Games!
What was your favourite moment?
